Thanksgiving in the 417: Free Turkeys, Community Dinners & Holiday Help 2026

If Thanksgiving dinner feels out of reach this year, please hear me: you are not alone, and Springfield takes care of its own. Here's every verified free Thanksgiving resource I could find for 2026. No shame, no judgment — just help.

Free Thanksgiving Meals

Salvation Army Community Thanksgiving Lunch
📍 1707 W Chestnut Expressway, Springfield
📅 Thursday, November 26, 2026 — 11:30 AM
A free community lunch, open to all. If you'd rather be around people than alone in the kitchen, this is your place.

Free Turkeys & Holiday Food Boxes

Crosslines Thanksgiving Program
📍 3055 E. Division, Springfield (pantry)
📞 417-865-5810
Crosslines runs Thanksgiving food baskets every fall, plus a turkey program for senior-only households and families with school-aged or younger children. In-person applications are typically taken during pantry hours through October (Mon–Thu 9 AM–1:45 PM, Fri 9 AM–noon). Check ccozarks.org/holiday/find-support for this year's details — and don't wait, these programs fill up.

Victory Mission Holiday Food Baskets
📍 1715 N Boonville, Springfield
Victory Mission has run an annual holiday food basket drive for years. Watch victorymission.com for 2026 signup dates and what to bring (usually photo ID, Social Security cards for family members, and proof of income).

Ozarks Food Harvest
📞 (417) 865-3411 | ozarksfoodharvest.org
The regional food bank can point you to the pantry nearest you if you need groceries for the holiday table.

Freeway Ministries — Every Kid Gets A Christmas

A Note From Me

I've been the mom wondering how the holidays were going to work. These programs exist because people in this community WANT to help — let them. Signing up isn't taking from someone else; it's exactly what these programs are for.

Bookmark this page. I'll update it as more 2026 dates are announced. And if you know of a turkey giveaway or community dinner I missed, message me on Facebook. 💛

Bookmark this one and stay dry. 🎃 🌅 Morning (all indoors!) Bass Pro Shops — FREE Halloween Leaf Craft & Photo · starts 9:30 AM · Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, 1935 S. Campbell Ave, Springfield · FREE · Kids make a leaf craft and get a free digital photo, right inside the store. 🏠 The 417 Mom home  ·  🔥 Today's Deals  ·  💛 Networking Mama hub Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, friends — and the whole 417 is showing up for it. 🎃 I went hunting for every trunk-or-treat, fall festival, costume parade, and free family event happening on Saturday, October 31, 2026 , from right here in Springfield all the way out to the little towns, so you don't have to spend your evening scrolling a dozen different pages. There are 66 events on this list, and the overwhelming majority of them are completely FREE. Everything is organized by area so you can find something close to home, pick one or two, and call it a wonderful day. Prices are marked exactly how I found them — FREE, a dollar amount, or "not stated" when the listing didn't say. Church and community events can change, so give the organizer's page a quick peek before you load up the kids. 🎃 Springfield 15 events — you could fill the whole day without leaving town. Ha...
