Splash Pads & Pools in Springfield: A Mom's Summer Survival Guide

Missouri summers don't mess around. When it's 95 degrees and the kids are melting, you need water — and you need it to be cheap or free. Here's every splash pad, spray ground, wading pool, and public pool in the 417 worth knowing about. Bookmark this for next summer! ☀️💦

FREE Splash Pads & Fountains

Jordan Valley Park — Ozarks Fountain & Stream ⛲
635 E. Trafficway St., Springfield
The crown jewel. The fountain runs all summer with shows every hour, and kids can splash in the stream for FREE. No lifeguard, no admission, no catch. Bring towels, a change of clothes, and snacks — you'll be here a while.
Farmers Park Jumping Fountains
South Springfield
Fun jumping fountains with splash intervals throughout the day. A great free stop paired with lunch at one of the park's restaurants.
Nixa Splash Pad at McCauley Park 🆕
701 N. Taylor Way, Nixa
Brand-new and FREE! Open daily 10 AM–8 PM through the summer season, right next to an awesome inclusive playground. This is the one Nixa families waited years for — and it delivers.
Strafford Spray Park
Howard Smith Community Park, 408 E. Bumgarner Blvd., Strafford
A sweet little spray park just east of Springfield. Open afternoons and evenings in summer — check the city's schedule before you go.
Rogersville Splash Pad
County Line Road Park, Rogersville
Open daily 8 AM–8 PM in summer. Free, fun, and rarely as crowded as the Springfield spots.
Cribbs Family Youth Park Splash Pad
Bolivar, MO
Worth knowing about if you're ever up that way — a free splash pad for hot summer days.

FREE Wading Pool

McGee-McGregor Wading Pool at Phelps Grove Park 👶
Phelps Grove Park, Springfield
FREE admission, and it's made for little ones — kids 6 and under only, with a max depth of 2 feet. Perfect for toddlers getting used to water. An adult in a swimsuit must accompany kids (one adult per four children). Pair it with the musical playground and you've got a perfect morning.

Public Pools (A Few Bucks)

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board runs outdoor pools in summer — Fassnight, Meador, Silver Springs, and Westport
Admission is just a few dollars (youth and seniors even less, and little ones under 2 are free with a paid adult). Fassnight usually has full concessions. These are the best deal in town for real swimming lessons-level pool time.
Mom tip: Outdoor pool season typically runs Memorial Day weekend through mid-August. Check parkboard.org for the current year's exact dates and hours before you go.

Indoor Pools (Year-Round!)

Chesterfield Indoor Aquatic Center — 2511 W. Republic Rd.
Zero-depth entry, a slide, tumble buckets, spray features, lap lanes, and a whirlpool. Open year-round.
Doling Indoor Aquatic Center — 301 E. Talmage St.
Slide, splash features, lap pool, and whirlpool spa. Another great year-round option.
Regular admission runs about $8 for adults and $6 for youth — and on select weekday afternoons, you can swim indoors for outdoor-pool prices. Call ahead for open swim times.

Nixa Aquatics Center

Nixa's own aquatics facility offers pools, slides, and water fun in summer. Check seasonal hours and admission before visiting — it's a popular local spot.

My summer survival rules: sunscreen BEFORE you leave the house (not in the parking lot while three kids run toward the water), water shoes for splash pads (that concrete gets HOT), a gallon-size bag for wet swimsuits, and always — always — more snacks than you think you need.
Stay cool out there, mamas! ☀️
