October Freebies & Deals for Springfield Families (2026)

October is secretly one of the BEST months for freebies, mamas. Restaurants roll out Halloween deals, stores host free kids' events, and there are little free treats hiding everywhere if you know where to look. Here's what's up for grabs this month — all verified! 🎃

Free Food & Treats

👻 Wendy's Boo! Books — $1
This is the deal of the season, no contest. For ONE DOLLAR you get a little coupon book with FIVE free Jr. Frosty treats (no purchase needed!) plus a coupon for a $1.99 kids' meal. Books are sold through November 1st at participating Wendy's, and the Frosty coupons are good through December 31st. I buy one per kid every year. Five free Frostys for a buck? That's my kind of math.

🍕 Mellow Mushroom — Free Kids Meals on Tuesdays
Through October 27th, participating Mellow Mushroom locations give you up to TWO free kids' meals (ages 10 & under) with any adult purchase of $15 or more. Dine-in only. Tuesday pizza night = solved.

🌮 Moe's Halloween BOGO — October 31
Buy one entrée, get the second one free in-store on Halloween day (or redeem through the Moe's Rewards app October 30–November 1). Feed the whole crew before trick-or-treating without cooking. You're welcome.

Free Kids' Activities & Workshops

🔨 Lowe's Kids' Workshop — Saturday, October 17, 10 AM–1 PM
Kids build a FREE wooden firefighting plane to take home. Registration is required (reserve online), and kits can go fast — sign up early! Our local Lowe's locations participate, but always double-check yours.

🎨 Michaels Halloween Fest — Saturday, October 17, 10 AM–Noon
Participating Michaels stores host a free Halloween craft event. Activities vary by store, so peek at the Michaels website for what ours is doing. Supplies are limited — go early!

🧱 FREE LEGO Life Magazine for Kids
Not a one-day thing — this one's ongoing and SO good. Kids ages 5–9 can get a FREE subscription to LEGO Life Magazine, mailed right to your door several times a year. Comics, building ideas, puzzles. My kids fight over it. Sign up on the LEGO website.

🔧 Home Depot Kids' Workshop — First Saturday Monthly
Home Depot runs free kids' building workshops on the first Saturday of every month at local stores. October's project is Halloween-themed (usually!). Check with our Springfield stores to confirm — these fill up, so register ahead.

The Fine Print (Mom to Mom)

  • "Participating locations" is doing a LOT of heavy lifting in every deal above. Call your specific location before you go — it takes 30 seconds and saves a car full of disappointed kids.
  • Most food deals are dine-in only and can't be combined with delivery apps.
  • Freebies go fast. The early mama gets the Frosty. 😉

Got a freebie I missed? Drop it on The 417 Mom Facebook page and I'll add it to the list! 💛

Indoor Halloween Events Tonight in the 417 — Saturday, October 31, 2026 (Rain Plan!)

🏠 The 417 Mom — Home · 🔥 Today's Deals · 💛 Networking Mama Hub Mamas, the forecast is not our friend tonight. 🌧️ Showers are likely right through prime trick-or-treat time — about a 55–60% chance of rain between 6 and 9 PM, with temps sliding into the low 60s. But Halloween is NOT cancelled! I pulled together every INDOOR option in the 417 for tonight — library parades, a museum Halloween party, a giant FREE church party, an aquarium dive hunt, and even a trunk-or-treat hiding inside a parking garage where the rain can't touch it. Bookmark this one and stay dry. 🎃 🌅 Morning (all indoors!) Bass Pro Shops — FREE Halloween Leaf Craft & Photo · starts 9:30 AM · Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, 1935 S. Campbell Ave, Springfield · FREE · Kids make a leaf craft and get a free digital photo, right inside the store. (Announced for participating Bass Pro/Cabela's locations — Springfield's flagship is the big one, but give their page a quick peek before you go.)...

🏠 The 417 Mom home  ·  🔥 Today's Deals  ·  💛 Networking Mama hub Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, friends — and the whole 417 is showing up for it. 🎃 I went hunting for every trunk-or-treat, fall festival, costume parade, and free family event happening on Saturday, October 31, 2026 , from right here in Springfield all the way out to the little towns, so you don't have to spend your evening scrolling a dozen different pages. There are 66 events on this list, and the overwhelming majority of them are completely FREE. Everything is organized by area so you can find something close to home, pick one or two, and call it a wonderful day. Prices are marked exactly how I found them — FREE, a dollar amount, or "not stated" when the listing didn't say. Church and community events can change, so give the organizer's page a quick peek before you load up the kids. 🎃 Springfield 15 events — you could fill the whole day without leaving town. Ha...
