Halloween 2026 in Springfield: Trick-or-Treat Events, Trunk-or-Treats & Spooky Fun

Halloween is a SATURDAY this year, 417 moms — which means maximum candy with zero school-night guilt. 🎃 If you're like me, keeping six kids' costumes straight is already a part-time job, so let me make the easy part easy: here's every verified Halloween event I could find around Springfield for 2026.

Trunk-or-Treats (My Personal Favorite With Little Kids)

Trunk-or-treats are a mom-of-six dream: one parking lot, tons of candy, no dark streets, everybody home by bedtime.

  • Hang Tough Foundation Trunk or Treat — Sat, Oct 24, 10 AM–noon, City Church, 3215 Sessions Road. This one's inclusive and sensory-friendly. 💛

  • Annual City Hall Haunt Trunk or Treat — Fri, Oct 30, 6 PM, 5434 S. Tower Drive, Brookline Station
  • 1st Annual Plumtree Church Trunk or Treat — Sat, Oct 31, 11 AM, Plumtree Church, Springfield. Halloween morning!
  • Republic Trunk or Treat — Sat, Oct 31, 224 N Main, Republic

Worth the short drive: trunk-or-treats in Billings (Oct 24), Monett (Oct 24), Crane (Oct 24), and the 3rd Annual Freedom Fall Festival in Monett (Sun, Oct 25, noon).

Library Halloween Programs (All Free!)

The Springfield-Greene County Library is going ALL OUT this year:

  • Halloween Party at the Library Center — Fri, Oct 23, 5:30–7:30 PM. Crafts, games, trick-or-treating, and a costume contest. Hatch Auditorium.
  • Pumpkin Patch at Strafford Branch — Sat, Oct 24, 10 AM–1 PM. Pick a pumpkin and decorate it like your favorite book character. Materials provided!
  • Tiny Jack-o'-Lantern Decorating (teens) — Fri, Oct 23, 10 AM–5 PM, Midtown Carnegie Branch.
  • Halloween Storytime at the Library Center — Sat, Oct 31, 10 AM & 11 AM. Not-so-spooky stories, songs, and a trick-or-treat parade around the library. Infants to age 6.
  • Monster Mash Costume Parade at Library Station — Sat, Oct 31, 11 AM. Stories, then a parade through the library collecting treats.
  • Spooky Stuffie Sleepover at Schweitzer Brentwood — Sat, Oct 31, 10 AM, ages 4–8. Drop off a stuffed animal for a spooky sleepover, pick it up the next morning with donuts, juice, and a slideshow of its adventures. 🧸

Zoo Fun

  • Wizards & Fantastic Beasts Day — Sat, Oct 10, 9 AM–noon at Dickerson Park Zoo (1401 W Norton Rd). Wizard-themed games and crafts included with regular admission. Costumes encouraged!
  • Sips, Snakes & Spiders — Sat, Oct 24, 2–5 PM at the zoo's Education Building. This one's 21+ only, mamas — a grown-ups Halloween date night. $40 members / $55 non-members.

More Spooky Fun

  • Kids Monster Ball — Fri, Oct 23, 5 PM, 601 E St Louis St, Springfield. Benefits CARE Animal Rescue.
  • Roll for Ghoul — Sat, Oct 31, noon, Mother's Brewing Company, Springfield. Halloween-day hangout.

One mom tip: with this many events, pick TWO and call it a season. Your kids will remember the fun, not the itinerary. Happy Halloween, 417! 🎃
